between feathers

how we met

In 2019, four outstanding musicians based in Austria decided to form an ensemble for new music and dedicated themselves to curiosity, exploration, collaboration and creativity.

what we want

We came together to offer a unique formation to the contemporary Austrian music scene: voice, flutes, accordion, and percussion. Along with performing international and regional repertoire, it is to collaborate with the composers of our time as well as visual artists, philosophers, and dancers that inspire the four Viennese musicians to create well-thought programs reflecting the preoccupations of our modern society.

what we did

As a New Austria Sound of Music (NASOM) ensemble for 2023 and 2024, Maria Mogas Gensana (accordion), Elīna Viļuma-Helling (soprano), Hannes Schöggl (percussion), and Audrey G. Perreault (flutes) commissioned several composers working in Austria to imagine new pieces to represent the current Austrian sound: Klaus Lang, Petra Stump-Linshalm, Aaron Ludwig, Alexander Kaiser, Manuela Meier, Pedro Berardinelli, Nava Hemyari, Tanja Brueggemann, Yulan Yu and Emre Sihan Kaleli. Collaborations with mumok Museum moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig Wien, Mostra Sonora Sueca in Spain, Project DME in Portugal, Le Vivier in Montreal in Canada, and Frakzionen in Bielefeld, Germany, are also planned for the following years.
